Comedy of Errors

From the directors of last season's hit comedy Twelfth Night comes Shakespeare's funniest play THE COMEDY OF ERRORS. An hilarious tale of mistaken identities in a fast and frenetic romp set in the Ephesus Grand Hotel in the midst of the roaring twenties. Antipholus and his servant Dromio check in, unaware that their long-lost identical twins are in the room next door. As they explore the city the men are greeted like old friends and find they have both acquired wives. Everyone in Ephesus is behaving very stangely towards them. Then things start to get out of hand....

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Set on the night of the solstice when the few brief hours of darkness seem to merge and faery world as no other. Folklore held it to be the night of divination when dreams and visions were believed to be prophetic; of all the nights in the year this is the one where magical thinking flourishes.

The dazzling blend of wit, farce and fantasy that forms the outrageous comedy of this shimmering play is littered with characters who have been household names for four centuries. Bottom, Puck, Titania, Oberon, the 'Lovers'; they are for all time and all places. Their story of the wood, the night, the imagination and the dream which, 'bodies forth the forms of things unknown - turns them to shapes and gives to airy nothings a local habitation and a name' never fails to charm its audoences whoever and wherever they may be.

 Dad's Army (The Lost Episodes)

After the highly successful sell out of the 2010 production of Dad's Army, the Stamford Shakespeare Company are reuniting the cast once more in THE LOST EPISODES for the 2013 season.

Although these are classed as The Lost Episodes, two have now been found, re-recorded on 16mm film by putting a camera in front of a very bright television and shooting away. This produced rather grainy results so they are rarely shown on television. the other two remain lost, but don't panic!

The classic BBC TV comedy series of the Home Guard of Walmington-on-Sea comes to the stage in four hilarious comedies by Jimmy Perry and David Croft. Adapted for the Tolethorpe stage, A Stripe for Frazer, Sgt. Wilson's Little Secret, Operation Kilt and Under Fire have all the well-loved characters including "Stupid boy" Pike, "Don't panic, don't panic" Jonesey, "We're all doomed!" Fraser and "May I be excused sir? Godfrey, all under the command of the redoubtable Captain Mainwaring and his effacing deputy Sergeant Wilson.
