Talk and tour of world famous clockmakers Loomes of Stamford
World famous clockmakers Loomes of Stamford are giving two talks for the Stamford Georgian Festival in September.
The Georgian period is the golden age of clock and watchmaking. Stamford always had at least one if not several watch and clockmakers including the spectacularly successful Ann and Mary Brumhead, who managed two generations of watch and clockmaking in Red Lion Square, or Joseph Hinds, whose Stamford business now spans two hundred stores nationwide.
Stamford has an unbroken tradition of watch & clockmaking from the 1650s to the present day. A family business with a staff of twelve, they make and restore clocks and watches using both antique and 21st century tools and machinery.
