The Road to Losecoat Field - Stamford and the Story of the First Lincolnshire Rising

The Road to Losecoat Field - Stamford and the Story of the First Lincolnshire Rising

The story of the first Lincolnshire Rising of 1470 is part of a complex and dizzying series of political events that saw King Edward IV lose his throne and then regain it in a matter of months. The Rising culminated in a clash of armies just outside Stamford on what has been described as “the most visited battlefield in England”.

Dr Nicholas Bennett (University of Lincoln) will cover the national as well as the regional background that led to ‘our often’ forgotten local battle.

This lecture is organised and supported by the Stamford and District Local History Society.
