In 1 day you will learn the skills needed to make a pleated lampshade with a balloon lining and contrasting bias trim.
This style of lampshade usually takes 2 days so in order for us to finish in a day you will be provided with a pre cut lining in white cotton lawn.
You will learn how to bind the frame, how a pattern for the lining can be measured, how to mark out the frame and lining for pleats. We then move on to pinning and sewing by hand the fabric in place for the pleated fabric. This is followed by machine sewing our balloon lining and securing this in position before stitching by hand. The final phase is marking out and sewing our bias binding to fit snuggly on the top and bottom frame before then being shown different techniques to secure it in place.
Previous hand sewing experience would be beneficial but not essential.
The lampshade frame and all resources are provided. Full details of any material you need to bring will be sent out in advance of the class. Alternatively, you can contact finchandtoad@gmail.com directly with any questions.
