Eschewing Hollywood gloss and deploying sly notes of humour, Babygirl is a shrewd and frank look at shifting dynamics of power, sexuality and workplace exploitation, anchored by a truly captivating turn from the prolific and adventurous Kidman – who is utterly convincing here, as a formerly level-headed careerist whose long-denied appetites may just be her downfall.
