This all-strings programme travels from the Baroque to the late Romantic, with one of the most celebrated works in the repertoire at its heart.
Bach's Double Violin Concerto is a perennial favourite, joyful, conversational, and endlessly satisfying, and it sits here alongside two real discoveries. Suk's radiant Serenade, composed when he was just nineteen, overflows with youthful warmth and melodic invention. Bantock's rarely heard Scenes from the Scottish Highlands is a colourful suite of five folk-inspired movements, well overdue its moment in the spotlight.
Join SCO for an evening that celebrates both the familiar and the fascinatingly overlooked.
