Brief Encounters by Philippa Massey
A history talk filmed on stage at the Stamford Arts Centre Theatre.
Because of its situation on the Great North Road, many people have passed through Stamford over the centuries. If they were just travelling, their encounters were usually extremely brief, but often repeated. Some of these people were famous or became so; some came for work or another specific purpose, while others lived here for a while, before moving on. Royalty has visited the town on various occasions for various reasons, but for this talk Philippa has decided to exclude the Royal Family! Instead she takes a look at certain visitors to Stamford, and what effect - if any - their visits have had on the town.
