1924: As the British track team prepares for Paris, we follow two underdog outsiders: Eric (Ian Charleson) is the devout Christian who believes his running talent is a gift from God; Harold Abrahams (Ben Cross) is the Jewish Cambridge student who dreams of proving to his antisemitic fellow students wrong. Both must make sacrifices as they strive, individually and together, to achieve their goals.
