George Sidney’s enduring adaptation of Cole Porter’s best musical – a backstage reworking of The Taming of the Shrew – is a visually extravagant delight, originally filmed in 3D and featuring Porter’s witty, timeless songs backed by Oscar-nominated music from Saul Chaplin and André Previn.

Cole Porter is staging an all-singing, all-dancing version of Shakespeare's classic play. His leading man Fred (Howard Keel) has promised a part to his girlfriend Lois (Ann Miller) – but Porter has written the role for Fred's ex-wife Lilli (Kathryn Grayson). Now, on opening night, a bouquet of flowers is delivered to the wrong dressing room: romantic relationships will change; singing mob enforcers will threaten; and Fred and Lilli will realise their love has never waned... all before a paying audience.
