Following their sell out production of The Sound of Music last year, College Players are delighted to present Lerner and Loewe's My Fair Lady.
The story…
London 1912, acclaimed phonetics professor and confirmed bachelor Henry Higgins agrees to a wager with his colleague Colonel Pickering that in just six months he can pass a cockney flower girl, Eliza Doolittle, off as a duchess at the embassy ball. Through arduous training, day and night, Eliza learns how to speak English “properly,” and transforms into a lady adored by all.
Along the way she bewitches Freddy Eynsford-Hill and convinces a supposed linguistics expert that she is royalty. But, once the wager has been won what is to become of Eliza?
This iconic show is full of colourful characters, glorious costumes and toe tapping songs, including Wouldn’t It Be Loverly, With a Little Bit of Luck, The Rain in Spain, I Could Have Danced All Night, On the Street Where You Live and the rousing Get Me to the Church on Time.
My Fair Lady is a beautiful musical about transformation, class and with a little bit of luck, the possibility of love.
Hailed by critics and audiences alike this award winning musical, full of charm, romance and wit, will leave you wanting to dance all night!
