Have we become a nation of strangers?

A gripping story straight from the heart of broken Britain, London to Brighton director Paul Andrew Williams’s haunting, genre-defying drama showcases award-winning performances from Brenda Blethyn (ITV’s Vera, Secrets and Lies) and Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie).

A neglected pensioner, Elsie (Blethyn) finds an unexpected ally in her younger neighbour Colleen (Riseborough). Over time, Elsie gains a friend and troubled Colleen finds a fresh purpose in life as she shops, cleans and cares for her. It brings brighter days for them both. But Elsie’s son John (Jason Watkins) resents the way Colleen has fulfilled the responsibilities he shirked, and simmering tensions between them lead to shocking consequences.

“A stark, fierce, wonderfully acted film” The Guardian
