Dir: Audrey Diwan France 2022 1hr 40mins Subtitled
With: Anamaria Vartolomei, Kacey Mottet Klein
Anne is an accidentally pregnant young woman who decides to have an abortion in order to complete her studies and escape the social constraints of her working-class family. But this is France in 1963, and a society that censures what women want for themselves. This simple but heart-wrenching film follows Anne’s struggle to go against the law even though she has so little time to do so: her exams are just around the corner, and her baby bump is growing fast. Winner of the Golden Lion at the 2021 Venice Film Festival.
