Part of our Arts Around Towns and Villages Days!
Lincolnshire is a county of marshy fen land, smooth fields, and the steep valleys of the rolling Wolds. It is also blessed with a rich heritage of intriguing folk stories and legends.
Using dance, circus and theatre to bring one of these wonderful tales to life, Chantry Dance presents extracts from our latest show in development, The Imprisoned Moon.
The Imprisoned Moon tells of the time the Moon came down from the sky to walk over the Lincolnshire Carrland. The soft light of her shining hair saved a lone traveller from falling into the marshy ground so he could return safely to his village. This angered the Carr’s bogles who seized the poor Moon and held her captive, plunging the village into darkness and terrifying the folk as the bogles could now roam freely. The traveller, guided by the light of a Will O’the Wisp, returned to the Carrland to rescue the Moon, so her light could forevermore keep the bogles at bay and keep the villagers safe.
With stunning aerial hoop acrobatics and contemporary dance, Chantry will be presenting the full-length version.
This performance is approximately 35 minutes long, chairs are not provided. Please feel free to bring your own blankets/chairs for this performance.
