Immerse yourself in an inspiring afternoon of artmaking with Jane Hindmarch, whose exhibition In Arcadia Ego – I am in Paradise is currently on display in the gallery. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore your own vision of paradise through the expressive interplay of pastel and paint, drawing on themes of landscape, memory, and imagination.
The session begins with an introduction to pastel techniques, where you’ll experiment with blending, layering, and mark-making to capture light, colour, and mood. Jane will guide you through ways to express emotion and atmosphere through composition and tone. After a short break, the workshop continues with a painting session, translating your pastel drawing into acrylic paint and discovering how texture and brushwork can bring your ideas to life in a new form.
Throughout, Jane will share insights from her own creative process, encouraging a spirit of curiosity, freedom, and reflection. Designed for adults of all experience levels, this workshop provides a welcoming space to slow down, reconnect with nature through creativity, and making art.
