Step into a world of colour and imagination in Paradise in Pastel and Paint, a creative children’s workshop inspired by the current gallery exhibition In Arcadia Ego – I am in Paradise. Artist Jane Hindmarch invites young artists to explore their own version of paradise through drawing and painting perennial garden plants, discovering how ideas can evolve from one medium to another.
During the first part of the workshop, participants will experiment with soft pastels, learning how to blend colours, build layers, and create texture to bring their vision of paradise to life. After a short break, children will then transform their pastel drawings into vibrant acrylic paintings, exploring how composition, colour, and brushwork can express emotion and atmosphere.
Jane will guide the group with demonstrations, tips, and encouragement, sharing insights from her own artistic process. This hands-on, supportive session is perfect for curious and creative children who love to experiment and express themselves through art.
All materials are provided - just remember to wear old clothes and bring an apron. Come ready to imagine, create, and paint your own paradise!
