Part of our Music In Quiet Places season
Tāla Tarang are a unique tabla and harp duo who perform a vibrant fusion of styles from South Indian Konnakol and Ghanaian folk music to Ravel’s Bolero. Mendi Singh (tabla) and Eleanor Turner (harp) have been writing music and performing together for a decade now.
They are seasoned artists who have both achieved great heights in their individual careers, recording and performing alongside Peter Gabriel, Akram Khan, Take That, Courtney Pine, Tony Christie, Voces8 and Jonny Greenwood to name a few. As a duo, they have performed at Symphony Hall Birmingham and Peggy’s Skylight in Nottingham, plus venues in London, Barcelona and Edinburgh. Tāla Tarang creatively weaving strands of traditional, contemporary and classical music into a tapestry that celebrates their connection and virtuosity.
