Dir: Steven Spielberg USA 2022 2hrs 31mins
With: Michelle Williams, Paul Dano
The latest film by Steven Spielberg is actually about Spielberg himself looking back at his childhood in the American mid-West. A young boy called Sammy Fableman is taken by his parents to watch a movie at the local cinema and falls totally in love with the medium, developing an obsession to film everything he can even though his mum and dad are getting a divorce and the certainties of his family life are massively shifting. Part memoir, part ode to the power of the movies, The Fablemans is the great director’s most personal film and because it’s by Spielberg it’s just as entertaining as his classics.
