Take Two
Jo Slone and Janis Mitchell
A memorial exhibition of ceramic sculpture using slabs, coils and tiles by the late Jo Slone shown together with geometric abstract paintings by Janis Mitchell.
Jo Slone and Janis Mitchell met at Lincoln School of Art in the 1960s remaining friends until Jo’s death earlier this year and this exhibition is a memorial to Jo’s life in art.
Jo originally studied graphic and fashion design but later sculpture and ceramics became her main focus. Janis also studied graphic design and worked in the industry for 15 years before going on to be a freelance illustrator designing greeting cards and children’s books published by Thames and Hudson.
They last exhibited together at the Ropewalk in Barton on Humber in the Spring of 2017.
