ACCESS CINEMA:
Open Caption Screenings for the deaf and hard of hearing. During these screenings, captions are displayed on screen for all to see.
WatchWord offers a discreet closed-captioning system, ensuring that only those wearing supplied smart glasses can see the captions. These glasses can be worn over prescription glasses and around cochlear implants. Users can alter the size, colour, brightness, position and focus to their personal preference. Equipment is limited, please book by calling our admin line 01780 480846.
Audio Description is when a recorded narrator explains what's happening on screen - in gaps in the dialogue - through personal headphones whilst the film soundtrack is broadcast to cinema speakers in the usual way. The volume of each ear can be altered independently by the user. Equipment is limited, please book by calling our admin line 01780 480846.
Hard Of Hearing uses the same personal headphones as audio description, but on this setting the film soundtrack is broadcast to the user who can control the volume of each ear independently. Equipment is limited, please book by calling our admin line 01780 480846.
Relaxed Screenings are suitable for families with children who have an autistic condition, sensory and communication disorders or a learning disability. During these screenings low lights are left on and the volume of the soundtrack is reduced. Audiences are free to move around or take a break during the film.
Disabled Patrons are welcome to use the platform lift to the cinema.
Parking for disabled badge holders is available in St Mary’s Street and St George’s Square.
