The (very sadly) recently departed Dolly Parton (Steel Magnolias) brings an exquisite voice and considerable charm to her Golden Globe-nominated performance alongside Burt Reynolds in this rambunctious 1982 musical comedy.

Miss Mona ( Parton) runs the Chicken Ranch, a brothel with a long history in a small Texas town. They have a good relationship with the community, and Mona is widely respected; the sheriff, Ed Earl Dodd ( Reynolds), also looks out for the Ranch due to his past with Mona. But when a pious reporter (Dom DeLuise) exposes the brothel, outside interests try to shut it down, putting the governor (Charles Durning) in a tough spot.
