Dir: Alan Byron | UK | 2026 | 91 mins Documentary
Hit the dance floor and discover the enduring legacy of the cultural phenomenon that is Northern Soul – one of Britain’s most iconic music movements – in this infectious, evocative documentary that builds on the story from 2012’s Keep on Burning: The Story of Northern Soul.
Ignited in the working class communities of the North and the Midlands in the late 60s and 70s, northern soul melded youth culture, high-energy dancing and uptempo American soul music in an exhilarating underground scene.
Starting with its birth in celebrated all-nighters at the legendary Wigan Casino, this toe-tapping film features exclusive interviews with key figures from the era including Richard Searling, Elaine Constantine, Wayne Hemingway and Tony Blackburn and examines the roles that the music and DJs, dance, drugs, politics, class, fashion and more have played in keeping the embers of Northern Soul burning today.
