What happened in Stamford - and to Stamford - in that remarkable decade?
We started with the new A1 bypass, celebrated the 500th anniversary of the granting of the town’s charter, were proud to become the 1st Conservation Area in the country, and ended the decade watching men walking on the moon.
Philippa looks at these important events, and details the changes to the town streets and buildings in the 1960s, the introduction of new technologies, fashion, music and youth culture. How did the town cope with all the new ideas flowing?
