PICASSO: A REBEL IN PARIS 12A

An unprecedented and alternative look at the maestro of modernity.

Dir: Simona Risi | Italy | 2025 | 93 mins | Documentary

An unprecedented and alternative look at the maestro of modernity, Picasso: A Rebel In Paris recasts Pablo Picasso’s story as that of a young immigrant – stricken by poverty but destined to become one of the most transformative artists of the 20th century.

The film moves continuously in and out of the Musée Picasso in Paris, which boasts the largest existing collection dedicated to the painter, comprising 6,000 artworks and 200,000 pieces of archive material. It follows Picasso through the Parisian neighbourhoods where he lived and worked, from his early days in freezing unheated ateliers to the large middle-class apartments where his success began. A physical and intellectual journey, Picasso: A Rebel in Paris directs us towards a deeper understanding of this astonishing artist’s life, work and spirit.
