Cast | Tecla Insolia, Michele Riondino, Andrea Pennacchi, Fabrizia Sacchi
Set in 18th century Venice, former world-renowned Italian Opera director Damiano Michieletto’s filmmaking debut is a dramatic ode to virtuosic composer Antonio Vivaldi and of music as a path to freedom.
Cecilia (Tecla Insolia) is a talented musician whose life changes forever when she meets her orphanage's new music instructor: Antonio Vivaldi (Michele Riondino). Under his mentorship, she gains courage to break free from the life she was destined for and pursue her passion.
Adapted from the novel Stabat Mater by Tiziano Scarpa, Primavera is based on the real life of Vivaldi, who was a Roman Catholic priest and taught at the Ospedale della Pietà for almost 30 years, and combines stunning visuals, a sweeping story and an unforgettable score.
