Programme
Beethoven
String Quartet in B-flat major, Op. 130
Beethoven’s String Quartet in B-flat major, Op. 130 stands as one of the most searching and innovative works of his late period. Vast in scale and rich in contrast, the quartet moves from moments of lightness to passages of profound introspection.
Its original finale, the Grosse Fuge, pushes the boundaries of form and harmony to their limits. Performed late at night in the historic setting of Browne’s Hospital, one of Stamford’s oldest buildings, with seating for just 70 this concert offers an intense and deeply focused listening experience.
