Live Show
SMACK & Spektakel offers an adventurous double bill of dance, refreshing the commentary on the empowered female body, while questioning the relationship between performance and identity.
SMACK presents a dialogue between the digital camcorder and the female body. A multimedia performance that positions the influence of pop culture on the individual and explores physical agency through common memories of 90's youth. To the backdrop of iconic music, Spektakel forcefully celebrates the imaginative and the playful.
A fast-paced journey through quirky characters and absorbing imagery, where nothing and everything makes sense.
SMACK is choreographed and performed by Olivia Edginton, Ingvild Marstein Olsen and Vera Ilona Stierli. Spektakel is choreographed by Natalie Sloth Richter and performed by Molly Nyeland, Johanna Merceron, Irene Ingebretsen, Svenja Bühl & Vivian Triantafyllopoulou. The tour is supported by the Arts Council National Lottery Projects Grants, Swiss Cultural Fund UK & Stanley Thomas Johnson Stiftung.
Tickets for the show: £8 standard
Curtain Raiser Workshop
As part of the performance, we are offering local young dancers and theatre performers the opportunity to participate in an afternoon workshop to create a short dance piece to perform as the opening of the show. This opportunity also includes a ticket to watch SMACK & Spektakel.
It should be a fun and creative afternoon and evening for any children and young people interested - and it's right in the middle of the May half term!
If you are interested in taking part, please email: lindsey.evans@southkesteven.gov.uk
