A SIP OF IRISH

A SIP OF IRISH

Celebrating Ireland's contribution to the culinary and drinks world.

Dir: Frank Mannion | UK | 2025 | 90 mins Documentary

Celebrating Ireland's contribution to the culinary and drinks world – and revealing its full scope – A Sip of Irish is a humorous look at the likes of Guinness, Hennessy Cognac, Irish whiskey, Muff Liquor Co and Baileys Irish Cream and how they complement Irish cuisine, with some fascinating discoveries along the way (did you know about the Irish influence on Bordeaux’s winegrowing history?).

Director Frank Mannion is joined by interviewees like Guinness heir Rory Guinness, Deirdre O’Carroll (who blends Jameson whiskey), Jurassic Park actor and whiskey producer Sam Neill and legendary Irish publican Oisín Rogers, who reveals the secret behind the best pint of Guinness in England at the Devonshire Soho. Visiting spectacular locations including Ireland’s Ballymaloe House (with renowned chef JR Ryall), Midleton Distillery and Chateau Margaux in Bordeaux (once owned by the Irish), Cognac, the Médoc and California, this rich, piquant documentary is “poured to perfection.”
