Eo is a grey donkey who has happily spent his life with a traveling circus. Yet when the circus closes down Eo begins a trek across the Polish and Italian countryside, experiencing cruelty and kindness in equal measure, all the while observing the follies and triumphs of humankind. Joint winner of the 2022 Cannes Jury Prize this simply stunning film puts the viewer in the perspective of its four-legged protagonist and in only 86 minutes weaves a spell that resonates long after the film is over. Truly astonishing.
