Dir: Steven Spielberg USA 1998 2hrs 49mins
With: Tom Hanks, Matt Damon
Following the Normandy landings Captain Miller (Tom Hanks) takes his men behind enemy lines to find Private James Ryan, whose three brothers have been killed in combat. Surrounded by the brutal realties of war each man embarks upon a personal journey and discovers their own strength to triumph over an uncertain future with honour, decency and courage. 25 years after Spielberg’s extraordinarily realistic war film here’s a chance to see it again on the big screen where it was meant to be.
“Gripping, utterly uncynical, with viscerally convincing and audacious battle sequences” The Guardian
