Dir: Daniel Roher | USA | 2025 | 107 mins
Cast | Leo Woodall, Havana Rose Liu, Tovah Feldshuh, Jean Reno, Dustin Hoffman
Leo Woodall (The White Lotus, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy) and Oscar-winner Dustin Hoffman (The Graduate, Kramer vs Kramer) star in Oscar-winning documentarian Daniel Roher’s (Navalny) acclaimed narrative debut. A captivating shapeshifter, it’s part low-key thriller, part charming romance.
Veteran piano tuner Harry Horowitz (Hoffman) is losing his hearing, but his shy apprentice Niki’s (Woodall) is incredibly sensitive. Together, they’re the best tuners in town. But when Niki’s skills are called on in unusual circumstances, he’s exposed to a criminal but lucrative potential side trade – shortly before he meets and begins to fall for music composition student Ruthie (Havana Rose Liu).
With a sly, witty script, original music by Marius de Vries and charismatic performances from Woodall, Hoffman and Liu, Tuner is a playful and satisfying watch.
