World Music Singing Workshop

World Music Singing Workshop

This one-day singing workshop with Linda Roast will feature a mix of African, Gospel, Georgian, American and Croatian songs.

Linda Roast has been involved with music all her life, starting at a young age with piano and clarinet lessons and progressing to playing keyboards and singing in pop bands from her mid twenties. Linda became involved in World Music and Community Choirs in 2007. She was Musical Director of Swaffham's Community Choir for 4 years and has been leading The Big Heart and Soul 'World Music' Choir since 2017. Most of all, she loves harmonies and enjoys singing Corsican, Georgian, Gospel, Bulgarian, African and American Shape Note to name but a few styles.

This one-day singing workshop will feature a mix of African, Gospel, Georgian, American and Croatian songs. We'll start with some physical and vocal exercises - gentle shaking and stretching of both voice and body to prepare us for singing.

We'll warm up with a simple song, moving onto songs which have three or more separate harmony parts. At the end of a workshop, we'll go over all the songs we've learnt. All songs will be taught by ear so no musical ability is required.
