Part of the Stamford Arts Centre Classical Season
The first period instrument quartet to be selected as BBC New Generation Artists, the Consone Quartet are fast making a name for themselves with their honest and expressive interpretations of classical and romantic repertoire.
Formed at the Royal College of Music in London, the Consone Quartet launched their career in 2015, shortly after which they were awarded prizes at the York Early Music International Young Artists Competition and the Royal Over-Seas League Competition.
In 2022 the group became a recipient of the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust fellowship. The quartet has performed throughout the UK, at the Paris Philharmonie String Quartet Biennial and the Lyon Auditorium in France; at the Concertgebouw Brugge and AMUZ in Belgium; the REMA Showcase; the Concerts d'été à St Germain in Switzerland and on tour in Bolivia, Peru and North America.
The group has worked with students at Chetham’s School of Music, the Royal College of Music, Benslow Music, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, as Hans Keller Chamber Fellows for 2020-2022.
They begin the 2023-2024 season with appearances at Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s Inselmusik; Perth Concert Hall; St Martin-in-the-Fields, London; St George’s Bristol. The Consone Quartet recently celebrated a new partnership with the Scottish Label, Linn Records, with the release of the first volume of their full Mendelssohn cycle.
