Folktone Productions CIC is a UK-based cultural organisation dedicated to sharing the rich traditions of Hungarian folk music and dance with international audiences through performances, workshops, and community events. Bringing together musicians, dancers, and educators from across Europe, Folktone aims to create welcoming, interactive experiences where audiences can not only watch but also participate.
At Stamford, the ensemble will feature musicians including Bence Vörösmarty, possibly Ádám Romer, Tamás Ferencz, and Nándor Kiss, alongside dancers from the Hunique Dance Ensemble.
The performance will introduce audiences to the vibrant world of Hungarian folk culture through live music, energetic dancing, and interactive teaching sessions. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn simple traditional social dances and experience the communal spirit of the Hungarian táncház (“dance house”) tradition — a UNESCO-recognised cultural heritage practice centred around music, dance, and community participation.
Bence Vörösmarty – violin
A co-founder of Folktone Productions, Bence is a Hungarian folk musician, organiser, and cultural facilitator performing across the UK and Europe. With decades of experience working alongside dancers and performing at Hungarian táncház events, he learnt Hungarian folk music in its traditional form in Hungary through direct engagement with the living folk music tradition. His work focuses on community building through the traditional Hungarian táncház movement, combining live music, teaching, and interactive cultural experiences.
Ádám Romer – violin
Ádám is a folk musician and founding member of Folktone Productions who regularly performs at international Hungarian folk events and dance houses. Alongside his folk music activities, he is also Lead Violist of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. His playing draws from both the rich musical traditions of the Carpathian Basin and his extensive classical performance career.
Tamás Ferencz – viola / koboz
Tamás is a musician, organiser, and director of Folktone Productions CIC. Alongside performing, he works extensively in educational and community settings, helping bring Hungarian folk traditions to diverse audiences throughout the UK and beyond.
Nándor Kiss – double bass / percussion
Nándor is a versatile folk musician performing regularly with Folktone Productions at festivals, dance houses, and cultural events across Europe. His rhythmic accompaniment forms the heartbeat of the ensemble’s traditional dance music.
Hunique Dance Ensemble – dancers
Members of the Hunique Dance Ensemble will join the performance, bringing the vibrant visual traditions of Hungarian folk dance to the stage. Their performances combine energetic choreography, authentic costumes, and the joyful spirit of the traditional dance house culture.
