Thinking in Colour

Thinking in Colour

An exciting new summer exhibition at Stamford Arts Centre featuring
three well known local artists.

Helen, Annabel and Moya all look for inspiration in the outdoors and in landscape, spending many
hours sketching and gathering images. The route to abstraction then follows a tortuous process :
Constantly thinking and making choices in colour, line , balance and texture.

HELEN DARE began her career as a sculptor, welding birds in metal and then life studies and
bronzes. Helen owned her own gallery for several years before graduating on to painting in a
wide variety of media. As time passed Helen found herself drawn more to the process of
abstraction and the appeal of creating images that have to be interpreted by the viewer.

ANNABEL ELEY trained at London Central School of Art and began as a jewellery designer with
her award winning designs attracting a loyal following over many years. She widened her horizons
to encompass both painting and sculpture. Her paintings are slowly built up with layers of paint
and collage, often evolving from landscape and the sheer excitement of ‘’thinking in colour”.

MOYA ACTON began as an award winning designer in Arts, Crafts and the gift market. In recent
years she moved on to painting in an eclectic mix of styles and media and has been selected for
the Royal Academy summer exhibition. She favours abstraction in mixed media using layers and
collage. Her latest works comprise a series of reliefs and geometrical paintings celebrating both
form and colour.

Features more than 60 new works.
